Happy New Year! Already the media has turned up the volume on new year’s resolutions, losing weight, a new you etc…. While I love the New Year and I enjoy making goals, I find the constant barrage of information actually makes me feel less motivated than motivated. So this year I decided to try something different.

I decided to create a vision board for our family so last week my daughters and I each made a personal board, it was their idea, and then we are going to create a family one. Everyone including my husband is participating. I’ve known of vision boards for years, but I’d never made one before.  I’ve always thought I wasn’t “crafty” enough.  It was fun to do and it gave me more of a visual goal than just a list.

So here’s what you’ll need to get started:
• Poster Board
• Lots of magazines of different sorts, especially of things you like to do (My daughter’s also downloaded images and text from the computer)
• A glue stick (Try to avoid liquid glue: it can be too messy)
• Some markers or glitter to spice it up

Leave your inner critic in another room and take a few minutes to think about what you really want your life to look like in the future. It could be 1 year from now or 5 years, you decide.  If you like music, play your favorite music and give yourself permission to dream. This is meant to be fun!  As it turns out, the themes that emerged on my board are: business and prosperity, balance, and energy.  I would like to run in 4 or 5 different races this year for example.

Once it’s done, put it somewhere visible that you’re sure to see it at least a few times a week. Share it if you want to, or not, it’s up to you.   I would love to hear from you about what your goals are.
