Last week I shared some of the celebrations I had from the previous year. It felt important to go back and review what I had done, how I had done it, and what lessons I learned, before I set out to plan this year.  I use the word, “resolutions” because it is the word everyone associates with, but the part of the word I like is “resolve.”  I resolve to…  It gives it more of a sense of commitment and allows me to expand what it is I want to do this year.

I just celebrated a milestone– 11 years since my mom, stepmom, and a few others who are no longer involved, started Living Forward. At the time, none of us were really clear about what we wanted it to look like. I was moving from Arizona and transitioning to being self-employed.  My mom had been recently fired from a long term position and was also in the middle of recovering from multiple surgeries.  All of us were in a state of transition and Living Forward gave us something to focus on.   My resolutions reflect my desire to continue growing and developing a company that I am truly proud to be a part of.

Based on continuing my business I resolve to…

Focus on quality and improve existing programs, products, and services

Build the existing programs and begin an online webinar based personal development training catalog

Improve existing relationships and build new ones

Focus on connection– connection first everything else 2nd

Practice more balance and wellness in my own life- for me this means getting back to 3 activities I love: running, reading, and yoga

Speak well of others or do not speak at all

There are actions to go along with the above resolutions and goals I have along the way, for example, I want to sign up for and run in the Chicago Marathon this year.  That also means signing up for and running in  few half-marathons this year.  I enjoy events and they keep me focused!

Another big goal I have for this year is to go on a personal retreat by myself.  I haven’t done this before and the idea both excites and frightens me just a littleJ  It is good advice that I often give others, and now I am giving it to myself.

I’m excited about this year and I have a really good feeling about it.  I know I say that every year, and this feels different.  Perhaps it’s because I’m different- yes that’s probably true.

So what are you up to this year? What big, bold, brilliant things are you going to do?  As long as they feel big, bold, and brilliant to you that’s all that counts!   Share your resolutions and let’s all help keep each other in the game.
